UTAGAWA KUNISADA, CONCUBINE OF BYAKUREN Japan, 1859 Woodblock print, framed and under glass. 36.5x25 cm (51.5x37.7 cm with frame). The picture depicts the concubine of Byakuren, a character in the Kabuki "Kosode Soga Azami no Ironui", which was first released in 1858. On the left side is signed "Toyokuni ga", with censor's seal "Goat 2" (1859), published by Iseya Kanekichi. With creases and minor damage.
