Uwe Herbst (1952 Cologne)
Breakfast in Provence', oil on canvas, 120 cm x 110 cm canvas dimensions, monogrammed, titled on verso
Uwe Herbst, born in Cologne in 1952, lives and works in Germany and France. He developed his artistic talent autodidactically by studying works by great masters such as Paul Gauguin (1848-1903) and analysing their style. Herbst followed their style until he finally developed his own creative formations through the choice of form and colour, as well as ductus, which he continues to refine today. ''Uwe Herbst's oil paintings live from the imposing interplay of light and shadow'', the southern French morning sun envelops the richly laid breakfast table in warm light.
