Uwe Herbst wurde 1952 in Köln geboren, doch lebt und arbeitet der Künstler heute in Deutschland und Frankreich, wohin er als Kind bereits auswanderte. Seine künstlerischen Fähigkeiten erlernte er als Autodidakt, indem er sich die Werke großer Meister, wie Paul Gauguin (1848-1903) ansah und sie studierte. Ihrem Stil folgte er, bis er seine eigenen gestalterischen Ausformungen durch Form- und Farbwahl, sowie Duktus, entwickelte und bis heute verfeinert. "Die Ölgemälde von Uwe Herbst leben von dem imposanten Wechselspiel aus Licht und Schatten", so scheint die Mittagssonne auf den kleinen Kanal und lässt die prächtigen Laubbäume in sattem Gelb erstrahlen.

Uwe Herbst was born in Cologne in 1952, but today the artist lives and works in Germany and France, where he emigrated as a child. He learned his artistic skills as an autodidact by looking at and studying the works of great masters such as Paul Gauguin (1848-1903). He followed their style until he developed his own creative formations through the choice of form and colour, as well as ductus, and continues to refine them to this day. ''Uwe Herbst's oil paintings live from the imposing interplay of light and shadow'', the midday sun shines on the small canal and makes the magnificent deciduous trees glow in rich yellow.
