Victor Mahu: a Flemish painter of rural genre scenes, drinking, card-players, dance scenes, musicians, beggars, interiors, etc.; died in 1700. Member of the Antwerp Guild of Saint Luke since 1689/90. Is influenced Mahu and others, by A. van Ostade and David Teniers d. J. subject: left out partying on the rural society in a village landlord. Many people are gathered for food and drink, in the right image box with a Couple dancing to the music of a violin-playing musicians. Oil on canvas, unsigned/unmarked, approx 52 x 62 cm, framed, doubled. With a hand-written assessment is the internationally recognized expert on Dutch painting of the 17th century. Century, Ellen Bernt, who identifies the painting as a "characteristic work of the vlämischen genre painter Victor Mahu" (Expertise from the 8.
