Lyrisch-poetische, flächig-verwobene Landschaft des Malers und Grafikers, den seine Aufenthalte auf der italienischen Insel prägten. Gilles studierte 1921-1923 am Bauhaus in Weimar in der Klasse von Lyonel Feininger, befreundete sich dort mit Gerhard Marcks und Oskar Schlemmer. Im Jahr 1921 besuchte er zum ersten Mal Italien. Nach dem Studium arbeitete er in Berlin, seit 1926 in Düsseldorf, von wo aus er weitere Reisen nach Italien und Paris unternahm. 1930 erhielt er von der Preußischen Akademie der Künste das Stipendium für die Villa Massimo in Rom. Anschließend besuchte er zum ersten Mal das Fischerdorf Sant’Angelo auf Ischia. Kaum kann Gilles seine Erfolge genießen. Nachdem er 1932/33 noch die Großen Berliner Kunstausstellungen beschickte, zählte auch Gilles rasch zu den im "Dritten Reich" von den Nationalsozialisten als "entartet", verfemten modernen Malern. 1936-1945 gehörte Gilles zur "Ateliergemeinschaft Klosterstraße", in der er neben Künstler wie Käthe Kollwitz, Hermann Blumenthal und Werner Heldt im Widerspruch zur NS-Kunst stand. Nach der Befreiung von der NS-Diktatur stellte Gilles 1948 und 1950 auf der 24. und 25. Biennale von Venedig aus, 1955 und 1959 auf der documenta in Kassel. Öl/Lwd.; R. u. sign.; 40,5 cm x 55 cm. The results of the auction are published within a few days after the end of the auction. In the top menu of the site, find the tab "Auctions". Click on it and you will be on the auction catalog page, where you can easily find the category "Results". After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. In the near future you will find detailed information for each case in the section "Auction information" on the page of the auction catalog and the lot.
Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
