'Bäuerliches Leben, Kornwucher', graphite pencil on handmade paper, 48,5 cm x 66,5 cm sheet dimensions, signed, dated 77, titled, mounted, pinholes in the corners of the sheet, paper slightly torn at the margins, minimal creases, literature: Cat. rais. Tübke Z 89/77, exhibitions: Panorama Museum, 28.6.2009-11.10.2009, 'Werner Tübke - Das Monumentalwerk'.
The drawing entitled 'Kornwucher' is part of a series of drawings that Werner Tübke created in 1977 as part of his Panorama project. This was done at a time when the familiarisation with the subject had progressed so far that the collection of motifs was being discharged into increasingly free-fabricating human scenes. This drawing represents a remarkable example, as it shows organic processes in a pictorial arrangement that is still mainly based on central perspective. Although the motif is closely related to the panorama painting, it nevertheless has an independent presence as a scenic variation.
