Wilhelm Schreuer (1866 - 1933) - "A summer stroll with children in the park ", an impressionist oil painting
Oil on canvas, painted around 1910. Signature/monogram on the lower right. A large family with many children going for a walk, two dogs playing in the background. The painter probably portrayed himself and his family, his five sons and five daughters were born between 1900 and 1916. Dimensions of picture ca. 70 x 90 cm. In giltwood frame, ca. 85.5 x 106.5 cm.
Wilhelm Schreuer, a famous German painter of the Düsseldorf School. He began studying at the Düsseldorf Art Academy in 1884. Over the years several of his works were displayed in big international art exhibitions in Cologne and Düsseldorf. He was a painting war reporter in the front lines of Belgium and France during the First World War. Paintings of this popular and important representative of the Düsseldorf art school are displayed in several museums. Cf. Schreuer's painting "Kaffeegesellschaft vor dem Hofgärtnerhaus in Düsseldorf", which was sold at Karbstein auction's on 28.03.1990 (lot 115) for over 21,000 Euros.

Öl auf Leinwand, gemalt um 1910. Unten rechts signiert/monogrammiert. Spaziergang einer großen Familie mit vielen Kindern, im Hintergrund zwei spielende Hunde. Höchstwahrscheinlich hat der Maler sich selbst und seine Familie dargestellt, zwischen 1900 und 1917 wurden seine fünf Söhne und fünf Töchter geboren. Bildmaße ca. 70 x 90 cm. In vergoldetem Rahmen aus Holz, Rahmenmaße ca. 85,5 x 106,5 cm.
Wilhelm Schreuer - bekannter deutscher Maler der Düsseldorfer Schule. Ab 1884 Studium an der Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. Jahrelange Teilnahme an den großen internationalen Kunstausstellungen in Köln und Düsseldorf mit vielen Werken. Im Ersten Weltkrieg war er als malender Kriegsberichterstatter an den Fronten in Frankreich und Belgien tätig. Gemälde dieses beliebten und wichtigen Vertreters der Düsseldorfer Malerschule werden in zahlreichen Museen ausgestellt.
