Churchill writes to F. W. Carter, a member of the University of Aberdeen's student union, requesting the recipient allow him some more time "to send a decided answer to your letter in a little while." Churchill, who was then serving as MP for Dundee was elected Lord Rector of the University of Aberdeen in November 1914 , replacing Andrew Carnegie, who served in the role from 1911.
