YAMADA KYÛJÔ (1747-1793) - Japan, 18. Jh. - Ducks and flowers, ink and colours on silk, mounted as a hanging scroll. Sign: Heian Kyûjô sha; seals: Kyûjô and Yoshio and l.u. a third seal (=Yamada Kyûjô, 1747-1793). Inscription on the outside of the hanging scroll: Kachô no ga (flowers and bird picture) Yamada Kyûjô hitsu, Chôjuji takaramono (preciousness from Chôjuji temple), followed by 12 characters which are difficult to read and probably refer to a restoration of the painting. - From a German private collection, acquired before 2007Yamada Kyūjō was a Nanga painter, born in Owari Province. He was a pupil of Sō Shiseki and painted landscapes, birds and other animals after Chinese models. This scroll is also a Japanese interpretation of a Chinese Zhe School style bird and flower painting. - Minor damages and restorations

Enten und Blumen. Tusche und Farben auf Seide, ale Hängerolle montiert. Sign.: Heian Kyûjô sha; Siegel: Kyûjô und Yoshio und l.u. ein drittes Siegel (=Yamada Kyûjô, 1747-1793). Aufschrift außen auf der Hängerolle: Kachô no ga (Blumen und Vogel-Bild) Yamada Kyûjô hitsu, Chôjuji takaramono (Kostbarkeit aus dem Tempel Chôjuji), es folgen 12 Schriftzeichen, die schwer zu lesen sind und sich wahrscheinlich auf eine Restaurierung des Bildes beziehen.
