Lot 52 | ZARAGOZA PARTIAL IRON METEORITE SLICE
Estimate value
£ 2 500 – 3 500
Zaragoza is an unusual iron meteorite, the main mass of which was acquired by Michael Farmer in 2006. This slice, displaying a fine, almost imperceptible, Widmanstätten pattern, is cut flat to basal edge, the top edge reminiscent of a Pyrenean mountain range. The meteorite crystallized deep within the molten core of a differentiated asteroid orbiting the Sun between Mars and Jupiter.
