Lot 4378 | Zwei monumentale Büsten mit Löwenfell, Italien, 19. Jhdt.
Schwarzer und weißer Marmor, poliert. Lebensgroße, fein ausgearbeitete Büsten eines farbigen Mannes und einer Frau mit lockigem Haar. Sie tragen jeweils einen plastisch ausgearbeiteten Löwenkopf mit weit ausgearbeitetem Maul, der ihre Gesichter umrandet und dessen Tatzen sich über ihre Brust kreuzen. Die Felle sind aus weißem Marmor gearbeitet. Um den Hals tragen sie eine Löwenzahnkette aus weiß-gelblichem Marmor. Sehr schönes Zusammenspiel von weißem und schwarzem Marmor. Auf einem orange-grau-weiß gemaserten, quadratischen Marmorsockel. Marmor mit kleinen Bestoßungen. Ein Sockel minimal bestoßen, ein Sockel beschädigt. Maße 88 x 54 cm. Kaufbeleg aus der 87. Auktion von Schloss Ahlden von 1994 anbei.

Two monumental Italian busts with lion fur, 19th century
Black and white marble, polished. Life-size, elaborately sculpted busts of a coloured man and a woman with curly hair. Each of them is wearing a three-dimensional lion head with distinctively wide jaws surrounding their faces, the paws crossed over their chests. The furs are crafted in white marble. They wear a lion tooth necklace of whitish-yellow marble. Beautiful synergy of white and black marble. On a square base of orange-grey-white grained marble. Marble with minor knocks. One base minimally knocked, the other one damaged. Dimensions 88 x 54 cm.

Provenance: From private ownership in Hesse. Initially from the Valnes hunting lodge in southern Denmark. Acquired at the antiques auction at Ahlden House on 25th/26th March 1994.

After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. In the near future you will find detailed information for each case in the section "Auction information" on the page of the auction catalog and the lot.
Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
