Les Vingt

Les Vingt, also known as Les XX (English: "Groupe des XX"), was a pioneering association of Belgian painters, designers and sculptors. Formed in 1883 in Brussels by lawyer, publisher and entrepreneur Octave Mauss, the Les Vingt became a melting pot of avant-garde artistic expression in Western Europe. This group was notable for its annual exhibitions, which were held for ten years beginning in 1884. These exhibitions were not just for the members of the group, they also featured twenty international artists each year, thus creating a vibrant and diverse artistic platform.
