South Russian school

The South Russian school of painting, founded in Odessa in 1890, is a unique phenomenon in the history of art. This direction united talented artists of Ukraine of the late 19th - early 20th century. The school was famous for its beautiful works, distinguished by a bright palette, intensity of light and color, which gave them a special energy and freshness. The founders of the South Russian School, inspired by the nature of the south, were oriented towards Impressionism and the Barbizon school, departing from the traditions of the Peredvizhniki.
