The Great Bear

The Great Bear (German: Der Große Bär) was an artists' association founded in 1924 in Ascona, Switzerland, by seven artists from the USA, Germany, the Netherlands, Russia and Switzerland. It was named after the Great Bear, the most famous constellation in the night sky. The oldest and probably the driving force behind the association was the Russian artist Marianne von Werefkin.
