Franz Schmid was a Swiss painter, draughtsman and engraver.

Like his older brother, the landscape painter David Alois Schmid (1791-1861), Franz painted watercolor portraits and landscapes of Switzerland and Germany, including many panoramic views of cities such as Karlsruhe and others.
