Otto von Thoren
Karl Kasimir Otto Ritter von Thoren is an Austrian animal painter. In 1857, he turned completely to painting and studied for several years in Brussels and Paris. In the mid-1860s, he was called to Vienna to paint the portrait of François-Joseph I of Austria. After painting The Death of Gustave-Adolphe, he turned to animal painting, in particular grazing cattle, where he distinguished himself by an energetic line and his delicate observation of nature.
