Georg Friedrich Zundel was a German painter of the late 19th and first half of the 20th centuries. He is known as a portrait painter, socialist politician, philanthropist, and the second husband of the revolutionary Clara Zetkin.
Zundel worked in a realist style early in his career, favoring socialist motifs and detailed depictions of working-class people. Later, in the 1910s, his work began to focus on religious and mythological motifs, leading to a falling out with Clara Zetkin and divorce in 1927. Zundel then took up farming, occasionally painting and creating pictures with idealistic and Christian motifs.
