Nikolay Petrovich Meshchaninov
Nikolai Meshchaninov was a Soviet painter, sculptor, winner of the Stalin Prize (1951).
He specialised in portraiture. He executed a number of portraits of Russian and Soviet statesmen, military figures, scientists, artists and performers. In 1953, portraits of Russian composers Modest Mussorgsky and Alexander Dargomyzhsky by Meshchaninov were installed in the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory.
