Julius von Ehren was a German post-Impressionist painter. He studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich.
Julius von Ehren lived as a free artist in Hamburg since 1893. During study trips to the Lower Elbe region, he at first painted simple pictures of village life together with Thomas Herbst. He was particularly interested in interior lighting as well as village streets, landscapes and portraits.
Von Ehren was one of the young artists who were initially rejected by the established Hamburg art scene with their plein air paintings, often done in bright colours.

Poppe Folkerts was a German marine painter, draughtsman and graphic artist. He studied at the Berlin Academy of Fine Arts under Karl Salzmann. In 1907 and 1908 he studied figure and portrait painting in Düsseldorf with Eduard von Gebhardt, before going to Paris in 1909, where he was accepted at the Académie Julian.

Heinrich Steinhagen, full name Heinrich August Friedrich Johannes Steinhagen, was a German painter, graphic artist and sculptor.
Heinrich began as a self-taught painter with paintings and miniatures in Impressionist and Expressionist styles. He also worked with elements of Cubism and Dadaism and eventually arrived at simplistic monumentality. Steinhagen was a co-founder of the Hamburg Secession and a member of the Hamburg Artists' Association. In 1937, Steinhagen, like many other artists, was persecuted during the Nazi campaign and spent several months in a concentration camp in 1944. This undermined his health and in 1948 he died of lung cancer.
Heinrich Steinhagen's creative legacy amounted to about a thousand works: oil paintings, pen and ink drawings, etchings, watercolors, woodcuts and sculptures in glazed clay, stone and wood.

Tom Beyer is a German artist.
Beyer studied at the Düsseldorf School of Applied Arts, traveled throughout Europe, in 1931 opened a studio in Berlin and joined the Communist Party. Although the National Socialists who came to power in Germany in 1937 forbade him to exhibit, from 1939 to 1945 Beyer took part in World War II as a Wehrmacht soldier.
After the war, Beyer led an active social and artistic life. He was also a member of the Association of Visual Artists of the GDR and became its chairman in 1950. As a member of the SED, Beyer reflected in his works the socialist construction in his country, depicting nature and people. He created a large mural for the Löwenschen Saal hall in the Stralsund town hall. From 1972 he taught part-time at the Berlin-Weißensee School of Art.
