Wilhelm Heinrich Ernst Eitner was a German painter of the late nineteenth and first half of the twentieth centuries. He is known as an impressionist painter and teacher.
Eitner produced portraits, landscapes, and woodcuts in a style reminiscent of Japanese art. Despite initial rejection in German society of his impressionist style of painting, over the years he gained recognition and even the title "Claude Monet of the North." Eitner was a member of numerous art associations. His works are preserved in the Hamburg Kunsthalle.
Ernst Fuchs was an Austrian painter, draftsman, printmaker, sculptor, architect, stage designer, composer, poet, and one of the founders of the Vienna School of Fantastic Realism. In 1972, he acquired the derelict Otto Wagner Villa in Hütteldorf, which he restored and transformed. The villa was inaugurated as the Ernst Fuchs Museum in 1988.

Although he was a supporter of the war in the years leading to World War I, his participation in the war made him change his position, and he is mostly known for his sculptures protesting against the war. This created many conflicts during the rise of the Nazi Party, when most of his works were confiscated as degenerate art. Stylistically, his literary and artistic work would fall between the categories of twentieth-century Realism and Expressionism.
