Klaus Fußmann is a contemporary German painter. He studied from 1957 to 1961 at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen and from 1962 to 1966 at the Berlin University of the Arts. From 1974 to 2005, he was a professor at the Berlin University of the Arts. His work has won several awards, such as the Villa Romana prize in 1972 and the Art Award of Darmstadt in 1979. Major presentations of his work include exhibitions at the Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin, 1972; the Mathildenhöhe in Darmstadt, 1982; the Kunsthalle Emden, 1988; the Kunsthalle Bremen, 1992; and the Museum Ostwall in Dortmund, 2003. In 2005 Fußmann completed a monumental ceiling painting in the Mirror Hall of the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg.

Irving has been called "the first American writer" to be recognized in Europe. In 1815, he traveled to England on family business. A huge success in England and the United States was The Sketch Book, published in several installments during 1819-1820, which contained two of the author's most famous works, Rip Van Winkle and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, and which made him a literary star in both England and the United States.
He continued his literary endeavors and worked at the U.S. Embassy of Great Britain. Returning to the United States in 1832, Irving visited some little-known territories near the western fringes of the country, and this journey inspired his works Journey on the Prairie (1835), Astoria (1836), and The Adventures of Captain Bonneville (1837). Late in life he published several historical and biographical works, including the five-volume Life of George Washington (1855-1859).

Karl attended the School of Arts and Crafts in Stuttgart and began creating successful illustrations for fairy tales. Later, Stirner met the expressionist painter Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, who had a significant influence on his future artistic development. In 1921, Karl Stirner settled in Elwangen, Germany, married and began writing poetry and short stories, accompanying their publication with his own illustrations. He was also very successful in illustrating school textbooks.
