Otto Seitz was a German painter of the last third of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. He is known as a painter and teacher.
Born in Munich, Otto Seitz became a professor at the local Academy of Fine Arts, mentoring many prominent artists. He became famous for his floral still lifes, landscapes, and especially genre scenes in which the artist captured people in everyday situations. His famous works include such works as "Drinkers and Hooligans in a Village Tavern," "Old Farmer at the Table with a Bottle of Beer," "Street Musicians in the Backyard," and "Young Waitress." Some of his works were quite small, including the miniature "Faun and Nymph" measuring 9 centimeters by 8 centimeters.
