christoffer suhr (1771 - 1842)
Christoffer Suhr was a German draftsman and lithographer.
Christoffer was born into a simple family with many children, but thanks to his father he was able to study with famous artists in Hamburg, Braunschweig, Rome, Vienna, Dresden and Berlin. In 1796 in Berlin he became a member of the Academy and a professor. Christoffer's younger brothers, Cornelius Suhr (1781-1857) and Peter Suhr (1788-1857), also became artists.
Christoffer Suhr became well known at home and abroad for his aquatint collections of costumes and customs in Hamburg and the costumes and uniforms of the Spanish occupation troops in Hamburg. In 1812, he and his brother Cornelius began painting panoramic views of their hometown in gouache, creating landscape paintings from all over Hamburg.
