Until 2020 he lived and worked mainly in Karlsruhe before moving to Leipzig, where he runs the gallery Soll und Haben. Gatzemeier's painting without reference to any style always revolves around the female body and is nature-oriented. In particular, the artist loves to paint brightly colored butterflies and insects in general.
