Michael Craig-Martin is an Irish-born contemporary conceptual artist and painter. He is known for fostering and adopting the Young British Artists, many of whom he taught, and for his conceptual artwork, An Oak Tree. He is Emeritus Professor of Fine Art at Goldsmiths. His memoir and advice for the aspiring artist, On Being An Artist, was published by London-based publisher Art / Books in April 2015.
Arthur Karl Maderson is an Irish impressionist painter.
Arthur Maderson studied at Camberwell School of Art (London) and regularly exhibits at the Royal Academy and the Royal Hibernian Academy. In painting, Maderson uses the same principles as Claude Monet and other French Impressionists. He paints beach scenes, landscapes and figurative compositions.
The artist has also written numerous articles for magazines, as well as for the Encyclopedia of Oil Painting Techniques and other art history publications.
Richard Mosse is an Irish conceptual documentary photographer living in New York and Ireland.
He has a BA from King's College London and an MA in Photography from Yale University and has worked in Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, Palestine, Haiti and the former Yugoslavia. Moss' photographs and films document armed conflicts, humanitarian crises and environmental crimes.
Moss works to visualize events, technologies and systems that often remain invisible, using a camera equipped with thermal imaging technology that obscures, abstracts and brings violence to the fore.
Sean Scully is an Irish-born American-based artist working as a painter, printmaker, sculptor and photographer. His work is held in museum collections worldwide and he has twice been named a Turner Prize nominee. Moving from London to New York in 1975, Scully helped lead the transition from Minimalism to Emotional abstraction in painting, abandoning the reduced vocabulary of Minimalism in favor of a return to metaphor and spirituality in art.
Jean-Thomas "Tomi" Ungerer was an Alsatian artist and writer. He published over 140 books ranging from children's books to adult works and from the fantastic to the autobiographical. He was known for sharp social satire and witty aphorisms. Ungerer is also famous as a cartoonist and designer of political posters and film posters.
Ungerer received the international Hans Christian Andersen Medal in 1998 for his "lasting contribution" as a children's illustrator.
