First edition of the collective work of Giuseppe D'Alessandro published posthumously by his son and dedicated to Charles VI of Austria. The first part is divided into five Books, dealing respectively with riding instructions (Book 1), harnessing (Book 2), types of bit and bridle (Book 3), tournament rules and knight biographies (Book 4) and horse medicine (Book 5). The second part contains the Addition of different Rhymes, Letters, and Treatises on Physics, Painting, & c. and other Exercises, which are the Pietra del Paragone de 'Cavalieri, a large collection of verses and prose entirely inspired by chivalry and fencing. Both parts are richly illustrated with engravings probably designed by the Flemish painter Guglielmo Borremans (1670-1744).
