Los 350 | Signed photograph inscribed to Norman Davis
ROOSEVELT, Franklin D. (1882-1945). Photograph signed ("Franklin D Roosevelt") as President, inscribed to Norman Davis, n.p., n.d., [aboard the Amberjack II, June 1933].

Photograph, 252 x 203mm (adhesive remnants at lower margin, mounted on board).

Roosevelt inscribes a photograph to Ambassador Norman Davis, his appointee as chairman to the American delegation of the 1933 Geneva Disarmament Conference. The image shows the two men during Roosevelt's vacation in the summer of 1933, during which Roosevelt and his family cruised from Marion, Massachusetts to their summer home on Campobello Island.

A career diplomat, Norman H. Davis also served as President Wilson's chief financial advisor at the Paris Peace Conference in 1917 and was chairman of the Red Cross from 1938 to 1944. See previous lot in this sale for an excellent content letter from Roosevelt to Davis discussing foreign policy.
