Georges Jacob, nicknamed Jacob the Elder, was a famous furniture maker of the French Neoclassical period. He was a pupil of Louis Delanois. Georges Jacob lived a long and rich life, during which he worked in many styles. He started out as a Rococo master in 1765 and was a supplier to the royal court and in particular to Marie-Antoinette (Queen of France since 1774), but soon moved on to the more austere style of French Neoclassicism and, later, Empire.

Nicolas-Quinibert Foliot was an 18th century French cabinetmaker. He was the supplier of furniture for the castles of Versailles, Fontainebleau and Compiègne.
All of his works are distinguished by luxury. The lines are balanced and elegant, the carvings are numerous and executed subtly and tastefully.
