Antique Travelling Tibetan Prayer Table bois wooden carved Tibet Mid 18th/19th century
An extremely rare old wooden carved prayer table from Tibet. Originally used by Buddhist priests for teaching and praying, this unusual table can be folded down for travel. This polychrome wood table is very delicatly carved on the front and sides. The table top surface is painted with red lacquer On the front side two dragons heading towards a jewel were scultated. On the sides, birds can be seen (peacocks) The back is left open to allow for the priest to sit with knees tucked under the table. mid 18th/19th Century
