Franz Bergman. Decorative dish for small items made of marble with a bronze figure of an elephant. Marble Early 20th century
Franz Bergman. An excellent dish for small items made of cherry marble and patinated bronze, in the form of a figure of a rearing elephant with a driver. The elephant’s superbly crafted plasticity and dynamic silhouette are successfully set off by a circle of marble with a recess for small items and business cards, where you can hang a bunch of keys or rings on the animal’s trunk and tusks. Cast and produced in the famous Vienna workshop of Franz Bergman (1861-1936) in the 20-30s of the 20th century. Base diameter 25 cm, height 30 cm. Literature: for an identical example, see J. Zobel, Antique Viennese Bronze,” p. 177.
