Soviet Ukrainian painter.
Matthew A. Dontsov was born on 26 Nov 1877 in Zolotonosha in Poltava province ( today Cherkasy region ) in a peasant family.
In the spring of 1908 came to work in Kiev. During a visit to the art exhibitions he became acquainted with famous artist and teacher Vladimir Karlovich Menkom. With his assistance, entered the landscape workshop of the Kiev art school, from which he graduated in 1913.
In 1922 M. A. Dontsov moved to Poltava . Worked as a school teacher, he headed the art Studio at the Palace of pioneers.
Member of the Union of artists of Ukraine.
Matthew A. Dontsov Worked in the field of easel painting. Master of landscape and still life.
Since 1927 - the participant of Republican and all-Union art exhibitions.
Solo exhibition was held in 1957, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the birth of Matvei Alekseevich.

Works of M. A. Dontsova presented in the art museums of Kyiv, Kharkiv, Poltava, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv, Zakarpattia and Yahotyn art galleries, Irpen historical Museum, and numerous private collections. Many of the works he donated to the national museums and schools in Poltava, Cherkasy and Kyiv regions.
