Pear shaped on spreading foot, with central moulded rim, the hinged cover with baluster finial, engraved with a coat-of-arms and motto with a baroque scalework cartouche within compass-drawn double scribe lines, engraved beneath the foot with initials I.C.B., marked underneath and in cover

The arms are those of Bulteel of Fleet Damerell, almost certainly for James Bulteel M.P. (b.c.1676-1757) of Fleet Damerell, co. Devon.
