Of rectangular form with cut corners, the original red leather-lined top above a working drawer to one side and to the other a blind drawer flanked by gilt pilasters in the Egyptian taste, reeded, and with hieroglyphs and surmounted by Egyptian masks, each side with bands of fluting centred by a large brass ring handle and carved sunburst device, the lock with red painted ‘40481’, the drawer lining red painted ‘40481’ three times, brass anti-friction castors, batten-carrying holes
