MUSEALE IKONE MIT DER FUßWASCHUNG AUS EINER KIRCHEN-IKONOSTASE Russland, Moskau, um 1500 Holztafel mit zwei Rückseiten-Sponki (einer verloren). Die Fußwaschung als rituelle Handlung, die im Orient Gastfreundschaft symbolisiert, zählte zum bevorzugten Thema der Ikonenmaler des 15. und 16. Jahrhunderts. Eine Ikonostasen-Ikone des gleichen Themas aus der Dreifaltigkeits-Kathedrale der Dreifaltigkeits-Sergius-Klosters entstand zwischen 1425 und 1427. Der Bildaufbau mit Christus, der am linken Rand stehend gezeigt wird, wie auch die gelängten Proportionen der Figuren sind miteinander verwandt. Eine weiteres Beispiel der Moskauer Malschule von 1497 im Russischen Museum in St. Petersburg weist ein nahezu identisches Kolorit der Rottöne, aber auch der Schattierungen der Gewänder in Blautönen auf. In Hinblick auf die Auffassung der architektonischen Elemente des Hintergrundes kann eine Ikone ursprünglich Teil der Ikonostase der Michael- und Gabriel-Erzengel-Kirche aus Gorodets aus dem 16. Jahrhundert herangezogen werden, die sich heute im Museum in Pskow befindet. Sehr ähnlich sind ist hier die Gestaltung der Dachziegel, die als schattierte Flächen ausgeführt sind.
