Post lot text

Adam Adach's paintings present themselves as places where history and everyday life meet. The artist focuses on the relationship between history and memory, depicting both an individual and a collective narrative. His paintings are based on photographs and are intended to confront some of the most traumatic moments of the 20th century, and to question the place of populations in contemporary societies in the aftermath of the world wars. His approach then focuses on the human condition and questions the world in order to recreate it in a new combination of interpretations. Nominated for the Marcel Duchamp Prize in 2007, Adam Adach has been the subject of numerous exhibitions, his works having been shown several times at the Centre Pompidou. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Marcel Duchamp Prize, in early 2022, he was recently displayed in the exhibition Plus haut que les nues.
