Rowing regatta
Scene with rowers in A Regatta-running-in on a channel, on the banks of judges and spectators. Impressionist of the main works of above all for his landscapes and river and coastal motifs well-known artist. Véron studied with Paul Delaroche and made his debut in 1848 in the Salon. This painting, with its subtly captured light and its vivid portrayal of movement is also one of the early sports depictions in the art. The motif is similar, in the 1870s, works by Gustave Caillebotte, Thomas Eakins, and Alfred Sisley had for the audience and the critics at the time still highly disconcerting. Oil/canvas; R. u. signed; 78.5 cm x 130,5 cm. Frame.
