Second volume of Antoninus's great work, in a contemporary Tübingen binding. Antoninus, Archbishop of Florence's most important book was the Summa, which outlines the tradition of Catholic moral theology in four books—while also providing insight into the society, customs, and economic life of the 15th century. One volume only of five, chancery folio (306 x 213mm). 225 leaves [of 226, without final blank]. Large woodcut initials occasionally present, initial spaces left blank (age toning, a few marginal wormholes). Contemporary Tübingen blindstamped pigskin [EBDB w000073, Jagd-Rolle I] over beveled wooden boards, foreedge title (lacking straps, a bit wormed). Provenance: Bernhardus Schonkapp (inscription dated 1549) – Martinus Engelhardus, pastor of Binswangen (gift inscription dated 1636 to:) – Capuchins of Wimpfen.
