Herkunft: Westliches Himalaya-Gebiet. Kaschmir.
Datierung: Frühes 7. Jahrhundert
Technik: Bronze und Silber mit dunkler, grünlicher Patina.
Beschreibung: Sitzend in vollem Lotossitz, die Rechte zur Mudra der Verleihung der Furchtlosigkeit
erhoben und die Linke offen auf dem Fuß liegend. Die langen Haare fallen in dicken
Strähnen bis auf die Schultern und sind auf dem Kopf zu einer komplexen Frisur geflochten,
die mit einem Diadem um die Stirn gehalten wird. Um die Brust trägt die Figur eine
Yogi-Schnur und ist um die Hüften mit einem dhoti und um die Schultern mit einem Schalband
bekleidet. Den Lotossockel stützt zusätzlich ein Paar weiblicher Nagini-Halbgottheiten,
die ihre Schlangenleiber die um die Mitte des oktogonalen Podests verknotet haben.
Inschrift in Karoshti-Schrift auf dem Sockel, bisher ungelesen.
Maße: Gewicht 3384g, Höhe 27cm, Breite 13,5cm, Tiefe (Sockel) 11cm.

Die früheste skulpturale Kunst von Kaschmir, datierend in das späte 6.-7. Jahrhundert, weist häufig Stilmerkmale aus der vorangegangenen Gandhara-Zeit (2.-5. Jahrhundert) auf. Die kraftvolle Figur war einst in großen Teilen massiv versilbert und besaß eingelegte Augen.
