Herkunft: Nord-Indien. Kashmir.
Datierung: 7.-8. Jahrhundert
Technik: Schwarzer Chlorite mit teils glänzend polierter Oberfläche.
Beschreibung: Mit der Linken hält der spätere Buddha die Zügel, seine Rechte hat er vor der Brust
erhoben. Seine Haare sind aufwendig frisiert, er trägt noch den reichen Schmuck des
Prinzen, wie auch das Zaumzeug von Kanthaka geschmückt ist. Hinter ihm steht kleiner
gezeigt Chandaka mit einem Stab, der ihn begleitete bei seinem Auszug aus dem Palast.
Maße: Höhe 8,3cm.
Rahmen/Sockel: Mit Metallsockel.
Zustand A/B. Fragment eines größeren Reliefs.


Die Darstellung ist mit erstaunlichem Detailreichtum und in lebendiger Darstellung aus dem extrem feinkörnigen schwarzen Stein gehauen.
