Lot 159 | Äußerst seltenes klassizistisches Diadem mit Diamantbesatz
Estimate value
€ 12 000 – 18 000
AN EXTREMELY RARE CLASSICAL TIARA WITH DIAMONDS - Germany, circa 1825 - Gold 585/000 and silver, tested, metal. Approx. 257 diamonds in round, pear-shaped and oval rose cuts, total approx. 27 ct. Restored. 2 additional parts to convert into a necklace: rose gold and white gold 585, marked. 40 rose-cut diamonds, total approx. 0.80 ct. Approx. 36.1 g. - Old Private Collection, Munich. In the early 19th century the diadem experienced its heyday. The female aristocracy of Europe loved the befitting headdress, usually decorated with diamonds, more than anything. The great role model is Empress Josephine, she shaped the style of an entire epoch, which the fashion-conscious high nobility gladly followed. A piece comparable to our diadem was made by the Stuttgart court jeweler Heinrich August Kuhn in 1824 for Queen Pauline of Württemberg. It is now in the collection of the Württembergisches Landesmuseum in Stuttgart. Literature: Brigitte Marquart, Schmuck, Munich 1983. For the type compare p. 153, fig.4.
