Bandino Brazzi
Notarial Register of Bandino Brazzi, of Padua, in Latin, manuscript on vellum, Padua, 1395.
A fascinating insight into the notarial activity of Bandino Brazzi in 1395, at a time when Francesco Novello had regained supremacy in Padua after his war against Gian Galeazzo Visconti.

355 x 253mm. 14 leaves, complete, modern pagination in pencil 1-13 (last blank), 27 lines in a fine notarial hand, ruled space: 232 x 180mm (a few wormholes, occasional stains and creases). Contemporary limp vellum binding with leather ties (yellowed and a little stained, wormhole).

Provenance:
(1) Notarial subscriptions of Bandino Brazzi: ‘Ego Bandinus filius quondam Angeli notarii de Bandino de Brazzis civis et habitator civitatis Padue in quarterio domi, centenario et contrata Lucie [...]' on ff.9, 11v, 12v, and 13v.
(2) Colker MS 59, acquired in 1964 from Maggs.

Bandino Brazzi, son of the notary Antonio, was a well-documented and prolific notary of the second half of the 14th century, who in 1395 was made Chancellor of the Signoria of Francesco II da Carrara. The present document, drawn out as an official, personal copy, contains notarial and legal acts from the year 1395 (on Brazzi, see G. and B. Gatari, ‘Cronaca carrarese’, Rer. Ital. Script., XVII, I, p.194 nos 207, 215, 422).
