A fine copy of the first edition of this impressive publication, one of the most beautiful of its kind, dedicated to the Barbarigo family and produced under the supervision of Cardinal Giovanni Francesco Barbarigo. Brunet IV, 138: "ouvrage magnifique". This copy also contains the 35-page supplement with the LXXXI-LXXXV medals published in 1760.
Elephant folio (566 x 396mm). Engraved frontispiece, title in red and black with large engraved arms and 260 engraved illustrations of which 86 headpieces, 86 initials and 88 tailieces, all finely engraved by Robert van Audenaerde (i2 in the Monitum with a small marginal tear repaired at the lower margin, occasional light soiling). Contemporary mottled calf with spine decorated in gilt and red edges (some light wear to extremities and joints).
