Japan. Kamakura-Zeit (1185-1333). Datiert laut C14 Analyse.

Holz mit Lack und Vergoldung. Sockel aus vielen Einzelteilen und mit einem durchbrochenen Mittelteil aus Bronze. Der Buddha sitzt in Lotushaltung mit den Händen in Meditationsgeste (jô in). Mit fast geschlossenen Augen ist sein Ausdruck in sich gekehrt. Das kesa-Gewand liegt in eleganten Falten und lässt seine Brust frei. Der originale Sockel in Form einer Lotosblüte ist mit einem durchbrochenen Mittelteil vom Unterteil abgesetzt.

Die Handhaltung wird exakt auch als jôbon jôshô bezeichnet bezeichnet und ist innnerhalb der neun Stufen die für eine Wiedergeburt in der höchsten Ebene des westlichen Paradieses des Buddha Amida. Solch eine große Figur war sicherlich in einem Tempel aufgestellt. Gesamthöhe 72cm. Zustand A/B. Teilweise restauriert.
