Lot 2218 Important incense burner with dragon and hôô-birds
Japan. Edo Period. Bunsei-Period 1818-30. Murata Seimin (1761-1837), whose pieces are found in many museums, and also worked for the Imperial court.

Bronze with a dark Patina. With a melon-shaped pressed body on three high legs, the dragon loops.
The lid pierced with foliage and a large eagle as a handle at the top. The
two upright Handle broken also connected to the swastika. On the
twill six cartridges with plastic-designed dragon, hôô-birds, eagles, and kirin. Height 53cm, Ø 30cm. In the bottom nine-piece brand: Dai Nippon Bunsei nen Semin chû. Condition B. At a foot a dragon missing, repairs.
