Rotgrundiger, leicht glänzender Ton mit weißer Bemalung. Flacher Boden, darüber breiter Kopf auf kurzem Hals. Ausgeprägte, gut ausgearbeitete Physiognomie. Das Weiß der Augen und eine Gesichtsbemalung mit Farbe aufgetragen. Seitlich Haare im "Pagenschnitt". Die Stirn fast vollständig von einer Mütze bedeckt, die horizontal durch farblich unterschiedene Absätze gegliedert ist. Ein Kinnband seitlich vor den Haaren über die Wangen geführt. Am Hinterkopf reicht die Mütze mit einem rechteckigen Lappen bis in den Nacken. Über der Mütze trichterförmige Mündung. Dazwischen seitlich zwei Ösen. Haarrisse im oberen Teil, von denen einer auf der Rückseite unterhalb der Mündung mit roter Masse stabilisiert worden ist. Geringfügige Abplatzungen am Rand. Sonst intakt ohne Fehlstellen. Eindrucksvolle präkolumbische Keramik. Höhe 21,7 cm.

A Moche head vessel, Peru, 1st half 1st millenium AD
Red-ground, slightly shiny clay with white painting. Flat base, above a broad head on a short neck. Distinct, well worked out physiognomy. The forehead almost completely covered by a cap, horizontally divided by heels of different colours. A chin band is passed over the cheeks at the side in front of the hair. At the back of the head, the cap reaches the nape of the neck with a rectangular flap. Above the cap, a funnel-shaped mouth. Two eyelets between them at the sides. Hairline cracks in the upper part, one of which has been stabilised with red paste on the back below the muzzle. Minor chipping at the rim. Otherwise intact without missing parts. An impressive Moche culture pottery. Height 21.7 cm.
