BERNARDUS PARMENSIS (d. 1263-1266). Casus longi super quinque libros decretalium. Strasbourg: [Printer of the 1483 Jordanus de Quedlinburg (Georg Husner)], 23 August 1493.

Incunable edition of an extensive commentary on canon law by the teacher of Duranti. The author, also known as Bernard de Botone, was a chancellor at the University of Bologna and a papal chaplain to Popes Innocent IV and Alexander IV. His learned commentary, which was printed in many editions, earned him the sobriquet "Glossator." See lots TK and TK for the work of his famous student. Chancery folio (284 x198mm). 203 leaves [of 204, without final blank]. Yellow capital strokes in book one. (First and last leaves remargined at gutter and a bit soiled, some faint dampstaining and foxing, scattered wormholes.) Later stiff vellum reusing manuscript antiphonal leaf (hinges cracked). Provenance: convent of friars dedicated to Sainte Marie de Grace in Bordeaux (early inscription on title).
