[BIBLIA ATLANTICA] - Due frammenti anticamente riutilizzati come legatura. central Italy: XI-XII secolo d. C.

Two important fragments from an Atlantic Bible. Among the largest manuscripts ever produced, the authorship of the format and of the cultural enterprise is to be attributed to Pope Gregory VII who promoted its production in Roman and Tuscan workshops.

Folio. 56 lines in lowercase carolina, with a large illuminated "P", four opening phrases and 7 red caps, small marginal notes. Text: on the front epistle of Saint Paul to the Corinthians (11.5-11.33; 12.1-12.14) on the reverse epistle of Saint Paul on the Corinthians (12.14-12.21; 13.1-13) and to the Galatians (1.1-1.15). (Heavy worming, important loss of text in the right margin, external margins with fold crease from when it was previously used as a binding) [WITH:] Second Fragment (400x300 mm) 54 lines (out of 56-60 originally) in lowercase carolina with 32 red caps. Text: on the recto Exodus (20.22-21.20; 21.23 -22.7) on the reverse Exodus (22.10-23.4; 23.9-23.29). (Sheet remargined with loss of lines of text at the upper and lower margins, loss of text at the upper margin due to an early water stain)
