Bronze statuette of a warrior, Etruscan, 3rd - 2nd century B.C.
Bronze figure of a warrior wearing muscle armour over a short tunic. The long, combed back hair falls in two strands over the shoulder onto the cuirass. The left hand is slightly bent and rests against the body, the forearm is white and slanting downwards; the right hand is raised in the gesture of the "adlocutio", the address of a military leader to his troops. The index finger of the right hand and the left foot broken off. Beautiful olive patina. Minimal traces of corrosion and remnants of crusted soil on the front, scratches across the armour and on the left thigh on the back. Comes with a plexiglass base. Height 11.3 cm (without base).
Provenance: South German private collection, taken over from the collection of the grandfather.
