Rare édition de ce recueil de textes libres. Il s'agit du premier ouvrage du célèbre farceur Bruscambille ou Des Lauriers, pseudonymes de Jean Gracieux, comédien de l'hôtel de Bourgogne, célèbre pour la liberté de ses écrits, au ton grivois fleurtant régulièrement avec l'obscènité. Au "prologue de rien" succèdent ainsi le "prologue des parties naturelles des hommes et des femmes", le "prologue des cocus et de l'utilité des cornes", ou encore le "prologue de l'estuy du cul".
Il s'agit ici de la première édition reconnue par l'auteur. Une devancière avait paru l'année précédente, mais Bruscambille la désavoue en bloc, "à peine la pouvant il recognoistre ny advouer pour legitime" (avertissement au lecteur). Brunet, IV, col. 899 ; Tchemerzine, II, p. 134 ("édition rare").

In-12 (145 x 80 mm). 1 titre gravé (privilège un peu court de marge inférieure ; minimes restaurations en marge extérieure des 2 premiers feuillets). Reliure de Chambolle-Duru en maroquin rouge avec décor à la Du Seuil sur les plats, dos à nerfs, caissons ornés, gardes de papier marbré, tranches dorées. Provenance : ex-libris au sanglier.
