Öl auf Leinwand, rechts oben die schwungvolle Künstlersignatur "C. Massmann". Brustbildnis eines Generals mit Backenbart in dunkelblauer Uniform mit roten Vorstößen, schweren silbernen Kragenstickereien und Epauletten mit silbernen Feldern und steifen Silberraupen, silberner Achselschnur und reichem Ordensschmuck (Halskreuz des Königlichen Hausordens von Hohenzollern, Roter Adlerorden, Königlicher Kronen-Orden, Bruststern des Zähringer Löwen, vierteilige Ordensschnalle mit EK 1870 und Gefechsspangen 1870/71 etc.). In profiliertem geschwärzten Holzrahmen (berieben). Fachmännisch restauriert, Gebrauchs- und Altersspuren. Bildmaße 75 x 60 cm, Rahmenmaße 101 x 87 cm. Sehr eindrucksvolles, qualitätvolles Generalsportrait in Lebensgröße (möglicherweise General Gustav von Kessel).

Half-length portrait of a general with sideburns in a dark blue uniform with red piping, heavy silver collar embroidery and epaulettes with silver fields and rigid silver crests, silver aiguillette and full regalia (neck cross of the Royal House Order of Hohenzollern, Order of the Red Eagle, Royal Order of the Crown, breast star of the Order of the Zähringer Lion, four-part orders clasp with Iron Cross 1870 and combat bars 1870/71 etc.). In a contoured, blackened wooden frame (scuffed). Professionally restored, signs of age and handling. Size of the painting 75 x 60 cm, size of the frame 101 x 87 cm. Extremely impressive, superb, life-sized portrait of a general (possibly General Gustav von Kessel).
